Groot Constantia has launched a new red wine named Lady of Abundance which promises to have red wine enthusiasts keenly anticipating each years unique vintage as it rolls out the cellar door.
This special blend made up from Pinotage, Shiraz, and Merlot, had award winning winemaker for Groot Constantia, Boela Gerber, test his extensive wine-making skills – and the results are exceptional.
Groot Constantia walked away with a phenomenal ten top awards at this year’s prestigious Top 100 SA Wines awards, including three Double Platinum Awards, four Double Gold Awards, two Double Silvers and joint first place overall for the Wine Consistency Award.

Boela leans back in his chair with a big grin, eyes gleaming with pride, and exclaims: “Ah, it’s really difficult to say, but it has to be the 2013 Gouverneurs Reserve! To commemorate the 250th anniversary of the birth of Napoleon, Groot Constantia launched the Wine of Exile exhibition at a gala event at Groot Constantia on 21st February 2019.
A selection of historical wine artifacts are on exhibit at Groot Constantia until 21 June and visitors are being offered a rare chance to view these relics, which unveil the history of the wine that Napoleon drank while on exile on St Helena Island.
Saturday 23 February marks “Open That Bottle Night”. This one night in February has been immeasurably brightened for wine-lovers by the creation of a special day to celebrate a good bottle of wine.
