Cape Town’s iconic wine estate, Groot Constantia, has announced the launch of their new gift shop situated inside the revamped and revitalised tasting room at the Estate.
This exciting retail experience is a celebration of all things local and showcases unique work, inspired by Groot Constantia, from a myriad of talented local South African entrepreneurs, artists, designers, and craftsmen.
Suppliers have been painstakingly sourced for their unique wares, and bespoke items to expect include jewellery, ceramics, bath and body products, homeware, kitchenware, African crafts and souvenirs, sculptures, hand-printed body-wraps, décor items and more. A common thread and theme that runs through many of the items for sale at Groot Constantia’s new gift shop is wine – with imagery, scents, textures, and designs that reflect the Estate and its award-winning wines, the vineyards, the trees, the grapes, the views, the wildlife, and the experiences.
“The Groot Constantia gift shop’s unique collection of merchandise is specially curated to appeal to both our local and foreign visitors’ interests, tastes and budgets, and the shop provides an incredible platform upon which to place some of the best products that local entrepreneurs, artists and designers have to offer,” explains Jean Naudé, CEO of Groot Constantia. “We are passionate about sourcing unique products made in South Africa that not only reflect and promote our beautiful Estate and rich wine heritage, but which also help to stimulate the local economy and assist local communities, and have teamed up with BASA award-winning agency, Platform Creative, who specialise in commercial curation of South African design and lifestyle art.”

Naudé says that each item in Groot Constantia’s new shop has a story to tell. “In South Africa we are so fortunate to have an incredible wealth of creative talent. We have selected and showcased a range of products for the gift shop that tell the story of the amazing beauty of our Estate – which is the oldest wine-producing farm in South Africa – and the beautiful area of the Cape in which we are situated. The items are chosen for their high quality and their uniqueness. Our range is extensive in terms of variety and we hope to appeal to the widest possible audience.”
The tasting room at Groot Constantia’s main wine sales building, in which the new gift shop is located, has also undergone a renovation and has been re-designed to enhance the visitors experience.
