The Cape Town Big 7 and the Cape Camino will be hosting Jean-Pierre de Villiers, an international extreme sports athlete and life coach / international speaker. He will be running the Cape Camino on the 30 and 31 August and will start and finish his run at the V&A Waterfront. Jean-Pierre is a South African, currently living in the UK.
The route will include running through all Cape Town Big 7 destinations, which include the Table Mountain Cableway, Groot Constantia, Cape Point, V & A Waterfront, #CityWalk, Robben Island and Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden. They will be recording the experience via GoPro and producing a short film afterwards. His aim is to reach 1 million people via YouTube with his short film, which will promote acceptance of diversity in all its forms.
Jean-Pierre de Villiers will complete 150km of the Cape Camino route in 2 days. He will run with Damien Hewitt from Sustainable Brothers & Sisters to keep him company and safe.
Join in on the whole journey as they will be streaming this adventure live on Facebook and a series of short videos will be produced from the footage. These videos will showcase all the wonderful attractions and facilities on the route, encouraging the global market to come and walk Cape Camino; showcasing our sacred diversity, our natural magnificent setting, our local communities and neigbourhoods, and the Cape Town Big 7 iconic sites: Table Mountain Aerial Cableway, Robben Island Museum – An agency of the Department of Arts & Culture. V & A Waterfront, #CityWalk, Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, Groot Constantia and Cape Point.
Jean-Pierre and Damian will be spending some time at our estate, having a rest between the Cape Camino legs. Being the first wine farm in South Africa, Groot Constantia is rich with history, wine and food culture, beautiful views and sunny places to rest when arriving on foot after a long mountainous Camino leg that day.
Enjoy the different wine tastings and indulge in lunch or dinner at either Simon’s at Groot Constantia or Jonkershuis Constantia. We’re pleased that our estate is on the Cape Camino route and will play an even more significant role when they’re 1 of the 7 stamps to acquire in the Cape Camino 7 Day Big 7 Package, which will be launching after Jean-Pierre De Villiers & Damien Hewitt run the route in 2 days at the end of the month, showing us all (at a much faster pace) what your experiences will be like.
