2016 is proving to have yielded exceptional vintages for Groot Constantia – with the Estates 2016 Gouverneurs Reserve Red, and 2016 Shiraz both achieving Gold Award status at this years Monde Selection International Wine Contest which took place in Brussels on 25th and 26th of April.

Groot Constantia’s wines are no stranger to walking away with top awards from the Monde judging panel, which is made up of independent judges consisting of Michelin starred chefs and master sommeliers, amongst other experts from all over Europe, who judged wines from 28 different countries. Likewise, Groot Constantia’s 2016 Shiraz is also accustomed to winning – having brought home a Gold award from the 2018 Syrah-Du-Monde wine awards.

In existence since 1961, Monde is a globally-renowned competition that tests consumer products from all over the world to grant them an internationally recognised stamp of quality and approval. The Gold Award that is presented by the Monde judges is issued to those products that obtain an average result of between 80% and 89% – meaning an indisputable guarantee of quality to the consumer,” explains Jean Naudé, CEO of Groot Constantia.

“We are delighted and proud of this great achievement by two of our 2016 red varietals,” says Naudé. “Our wines continue to impress on the international stage, consistently bringing home top awards from across the globe year after year.”
