Groot Constantia’s wines excel in the 2024 Platter Wine Guide ratings

Platter’s South African Wine Guide 2024 has awarded 12 of Groot Constantia’s wines with top accolades in the 44th edition of this popular guide – annually one of the most eagerly anticipated listings of top-performing wines.

With top honours, Groot Constantia’s 2021 Gouverneurs Reserve White has been awarded 5 stars; whilst 10 other wines achieved 4,5 stars – with a score of 90 points and above.

These wines are the 2019 Gouverneurs Reserve Red, 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon, 2020 Merlot, 2020 Shiraz, 2021 Pinotage, 2019 Lady Of Abundance, 2022 Chardonnay, 2022 Sauvignon Blanc, 2018 Grand Constance, and 2021 Cape Ruby.  In addition to these, the 2023 Rosé received four stars, with a score of 86 points.

These latest awards are a wonderful accolade for South Africa’s oldest wine-producing farm, which was founded in 1685. “The hard work of our wine-making team at Groot Constantia has paid off in outstanding wines being consistently produced on the estate. Exceptional and consistent quality is our aim and motto – true to the wishes of our founder back in 1685 when he named this farm Constantia. Testament to this is seen in the many awards that we continue to win,” says Jean Naudé, CEO of Groot Constantia. “We are delighted that so many of our wines across such diverse varietals have scored so high in what is easily the internationally most renowned and most competent wine guide for South African wines, and we trust that our customers will share in our joy as they consume our wines.”

“We could not have gone into the festive season with a better reason to celebrate – featuring so prominently in the 2024 Platter wine guide, which so many people use as their guide to buying great wine in South Africa,” concludes Naudé.
