Cameron Nel, teacher at Hout Bay High School, recently approached Groot Constantia to assist with barrels and bins to plant trees. He was on a mission to improve the grounds of Hout Bay High School. The outdoor amphitheater where the learners gather was completely paved and offered no shade.

October is Pinotage Month and to celebrate we paid a visit to Groot Constantia, South Africa’s oldest wine-producing estate and the only Pinotage grower in the Constantia Valley to find out what is on offer and a little bit more about their Pinotage.

An extremely rare 195 year old Grand Constance bottle will be returning to its place of origin at the Groot Constantia wine estate in what is a significant event for the South African wine industry, and Cape Town heritage in general.
